Neda Azarmehr

I am an Assistant Professor in Data Science and AI at the Information School, University of Sheffield. I completed my PhD in Computer Science with a focus on Artificial Intelligence at the University of Lincoln, in collaboration with Imperial College London. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Royal Academy of Engineering Frontiers awardee. Prior to joining the University of Sheffield, I held a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Sheffield and a Lectureship at the University of West London.

My research bridges artificial intelligence, medical imaging, and digital health, with a focus on clinical machine learning, diagnostic and prognostic modelling, and equitable healthcare technologies.

I combine methodological innovation with real-world clinical applications, with a particular interest in multi-modal data integration, generalisability, and the development of trustworthy and responsible AI. A central aim of my work is to design sustainable, portable, and context-sensitive AI solutions that can support diagnostic and clinical decision-making in low-resource healthcare settings. This includes an active interest in developing technologies that contribute to the decarbonisation of healthcare systems while enhancing equity, accessibility, and real-world usability.
